[CNA] K) Parliament passed the state budget for 2022 (2)

The House of Assembly passed the state budget for 2022 by a majority vote. 30 MPs voted in favour and 25 against. The parties DISY, DIKO and DIPA were in favour and AKEL, ELAM, EDEK and the Movement of Ecologists were against.

The EPP, as its President Marinos Sizopoulos said, voted against the budget, voting in favour of the budgets of the Ministries of Defence, Labour, Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare.

The plenary session for the adoption of the budget was attended by the Minister of Finance, other ministers and deputy ministers of the government and directors-general of ministries.

The budget for 2022 is in deficit. The Government has set a target of gradually returning state budgets to balance by the year 2024.
