A significant increase in electricity demand and production levels has been recorded in recent days, the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO) told CNA.

According to the data, energy production on the afternoon of Tuesday 18 January (6.15 pm) reached 955 megawatts (MW), of which 110 MW came from wind farms.

Demand is expected to peak today due to a further drop in temperatures, according to weather forecasts, while the share of production from wind farms is expected to fall.

As noted by the Deputy Press Spokesman of the TSMK Roger Tapakis, there is diversification in terms of production energies in order to prevent any overloads, but also to ensure the coverage of energy needs throughout the country.
