The COVID-19 pandemic remains the most significant risk to the global economy and is contributing to rising inflation in many countries, the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said today.
Georgieva called for intensified efforts to increase vaccination and strengthen defences against the new coronavirus, explaining that such actions - combined with interest rate increases being considered or already announced by central banks - would help fight inflation and limit supply chain turbulence.
