Yesterday, Ambassador Andreas Hadjichrysanthou presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), Michael W. Lodge, as the first Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the Authority. The ceremony was held online due to the measures in place due to the pandemic.
During the ceremony, according to a statement issued by the Authority and published on its website, Mr Hadjichrysanthou noted that as an island and maritime state, Cyprus stresses the critical importance of international law as reflected in the United Nations Convention and the Law of the Sea, which is a fundamental pillar of ocean governance, where the ISA plays a key role as it promotes the effective and uniform application of the international legal regime in the region.
