Employment in the Broad Public Sector increased by 1,255 people, or 1.8%, in Q3 2021, compared to the same quarter in 2020.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the total number of employees in the Broad Public Sector in Q3 2021 was 69,757.
In the General Government, employment amounted to 64,141 people and in Government-controlled Companies and Enterprises to 5,616.
In General Government, which consists of Government, Non-Profit Organisations and Local Authorities, employment stood at 52,562, 7,298 and 4,281 respectively.
An increase was observed in Central Government by 1,219 persons (2.1%), in
Local Authorities by 172 persons (4.2%) while in Government Controlled Companies and Enterprises there was a decrease of 136 persons (-2.4%).
