[CNA] Deposits up €3.3bn in 2021, loans down €1.9bn

Deposits in the Cypriot banking system stood at €51.52 billion at the end of December 2021, up €3.31 billion compared to December 2020.

According to data from the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), the loan balance at the end of December 2021 stood at €29.9 billion, a decrease of €1.87 billion, reflecting the ongoing deleveraging of banks' loan portfolios.

Liquidity in the banking system at the end of December stood at €21.6 billion.

According to the CBC, total deposits in December 2021 recorded a net increase (excluding reclassifications and currency revaluations) of €331.2 million, compared to a net increase of €480.8 million in November 2021.

The annual rate of change reached 5.7%, compared to 5.8% in November
