[CNA] Cyprus 21st in the EU on the Gender Equality Index, says I. Antoniou in her annual report

2020 was a year of injustices, inequalities and discrimination for women and girls, says Gender Equality Commissioner Josephine Antoniou, in a review of her work, adding that Cyprus is ranked 21st in the EU in the Gender Equality Index for 2020.

In her 2020 Report which she is releasing, Ms. Antoniou notes that the Covid-19 outbreak found states unprepared for such a crisis, societies were not prepared to face this health crisis and handle the pandemic, with the social and economic consequences exacerbating existing inequalities between men and women, threatening to reverse the progress made to date and push 47 million more women and men
