Consumer prices rose at the fastest pace in almost 30 years in Germany in December, according to official data released on Thursday, pushed up by rising energy costs and problems in supply chains.
The annual inflation rate climbed to 5.3 percent, accelerating for a sixth straight month, after rising 5.2 percent in November, according to preliminary data from Germany's federal statistics office, Destatis.
For the whole of 2021, inflation reached 3.1%.
