The issue of the criminalization of conversion therapies against LGBTI people was discussed today at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, during which serious complaints were heard and recorded concerning the traumatic experiences of individuals and what they have suffered.

Specifically, during the debate, complaints were heard concerning psychologists and psychotherapists, priests and alternative therapists who practice such methods, i.e. so-called conversion or reparative therapy, aimed at changing a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.

There have been allegations that priests are leading these individuals to hormone therapies and other types of treatments, while other testimonies report that individuals have been led to attempt suicide.
