The Limassol Permanent Criminal Court today imposed a 23-year prison sentence on an accused person, who admitted the offences of exporting and possession with intent to supply drugs (MDMA), weighing a total of 628 kilograms and 63.3 grams.

According to a statement by the Legal Service, the drugs in question were detected by the Australian authorities in the year 2019 in Cypriot barbecues ("fukudes").

The drugs had been imported into the Republic of Cyprus by a sailing vessel, placed in a specially designed cavity of the "fukudes" and exported by sea container from the New Port of Limassol.
