An Atlas Air plane drew a crown over the number 747 in the sky yesterday, thus saying a symbolic "Goodbye" to the production of the legendary Boeing 747s.

The last Boeing 747, aka Jumbo Jet, aka Queen of the Skies with the distinctive "hump" on the fuselage, was produced in December 2022 and was the 1574th in its history. Yesterday it was handed over to Atlas Air cargo airline, Boeing will no longer produce this model.

The Jumbo Jet first flew in 1969 in Pan American's livery. For a long time it remained the most spacious aircraft in the world - it could carry an average of 500-600 passengers. However, in 1991 a record was set: this airplane carried over 1.1 thousand people per flight.

In recent years, the Boeing 747 has become unprofitable for many airlines due to its high fuel consumption.

The Jumbo Jet was a frequent guest in Cyprus - for example, Transaero Airlines brought tourists here, and then Rossiya Airlines.
