[PIO] Award Ceremony for Schools that excelled in the Competition of Practices/Actions for the Promotion of Anti-Racist Policy of the Ministry of Educ

Today, at the Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, the Award Ceremony of the Schools that were distinguished in the Competition of Actions for the Promotion of Anti-Racist Policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, during the school year 2020-21, took place at the Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth.

The competition is a collaborative institution between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Office of the Citizens' Commissioner and provides opportunities to recognize and highlight good practices implemented by schools to promote issues of active citizenship, social justice, prevention, combating and management of violence in the school community.

The competition for the school year 2020-2021 emerged through the actions to implement the Ministry's National Strategy for the Prevention and Management of Violence at School, 2018-2022 and aimed at promoting the Ministry of Education's Anti-Racist Policy.

Through the theme of the competition and the actions developed by the schools, the main axes of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Management of Violence at School meet the priorities of the Ministry of Education's Anti-Racist Policy. The aim is to provide quality education in a safe and friendly school environment, which promotes peaceful attitudes and values and in which children actively participate in school life and the educational process, regardless of any particularities. Panagiotis Sentonas, the Minister of Justice and Public Order Mrs. Stefi Drakou and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Mr. Prodromos Prodromou.

This was followed by short presentations by the schools that received an Award (Agios Antonios High School, Limassol, A' Primary School of Geriou, Nicosia and A' Lyceum of National Lord Makarios III, Paphos) and the school that received a Commendation (3rd Kindergarten of Kaimaklion, Nicosia).

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards and plaques.
