The Nicosia Court of Cassation acquitted the 10 defendants in the Synergatism case - Defendants relieved

The Nicosia Permanent Court of Cassation found the 10 defendants in the long-running case of Synergatis not guilty.

It is recalled that the defendants in the case were 10 persons in total, seven natural persons and three legal entities. They are Dimitrakis Stavrou, Erotokritos Chlorakiotis, Maria Chlorakiotou, Karolina Angelopoulou, Maria Chrysanthou, Konstantinos Lyra, George Mavrea, Detiero Enterprises Ltd, CHL Enterprises Ltd and Ktimatiki kotrona Ltd.

However, as the Cyprus Times is informed, tears of joy were shed by the defendants in the courtroom after the acquittal.

It is recalled that last year, the Prosecution had withdrawn the old indictment and registered a new one with the addition of new charges and another legal entity as a defendant in the case. The amount of the four loans, whose investigation led to the new indictment in the case, amounted to about two million euros.

The defendants faced the same charges as in the suspended case concerning the offences of conspiracy to defraud, obtaining goods by false representation, forgery, circulation of a false document, false accounts with intent to defraud, unlawful acquisition of property and money laundering.
