Two people who dived into the Cape Greco waters in Ayia Napa were rescued after they were deemed to be in danger, the search and rescue centre said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday at around 6pm.

Members of the public at the scene tried to help while professionals working at the rescue point used a lifebuoy to help them.

The search and rescue centre called on the public to be mindful of warning signs and avoid going into the sea at points market as dangerous.

There are four rescue points set up by the centre in places with high foot traffic. This are the sea caves in Cape Greco, Ayioi Anargyroi the pier at Limassol’s old port and ‘the mbania’ beach in Kato Paphos.

Each one has a lifebuoy and a live feed camera linked with the search and rescue centre.
